If you think two composer/lyricists living together in a wee Bushwick apartment sounds like a recipe for epic musical fusion, just wait until they throw the freshest cabaret bash of the New Year!  Roommates Samuel Salmond and Tyler Phillips trek across the Williamsburg Bridge to host an evening of original tunes by some of NYC's most exciting young writers.  Featuring performances by Dana Aber, Elysia Segal, Paul Wyatt, Amanda Savan, Jenna Lipe, Derek Carley, Amanda Taraska,Patty Lohr, WIlson Bridges, James Sasser and more!

Tyler Phillips Music, in association with Kamelrock Productions, present this third concert in the Name'NLights Cabaret Series - a new series dedicated to promoting the new works of theatre writers.
 

SAMUEL SALMOND is currently attending NYU’s Graduate Music Theatre Writing Program as a Lyricist/ Bookwriter. It’s super awesome. Sam just graduated from Baldwin Wallace College with a degree in Music Composition. It was pretty awesome. TYLER PHILLIPS is a wrtier and performer from Texas who got his gigging legs early on by playing the San Antonio/Austin blues circuit.  At age 15, Tyler wrote his first musical A WAY TO LOVE. This show, which premiered at the Magik Theater (San Antonio, TX) in 2004, was followed by three more South Texas productions of Tyler's musicals - SIXTEEN (North East School of the Arts, SA, TX 2004), FAIREST OF THEM ALL (North East School of the Arts, SA, TX 2005), and CITY LIFE (The Zachary Scott Theater Center PAS, Austin, TX 2006).  Tyler's NYC credits include readings of his shows FAIREST OF THEM ALL (The York Theatre, 2005) and THE AMAZING RIVER PARADE (The Laurie Beechman Theater, 2009).  Working beyond the stage, Tyler's film scores have been seen at film festivals accross the country including Sundance, WestFest, Austin, Olympic Youth, Taos Talking Pictures and Los Angeles International Film Festivals and on the HBOFamily Channel and PBS/KLRN-TV in 2003.  Tyler currently lives in Brooklyn, NY where he works in the theatre industry as a composer/lyricist, playwright, and producer.  Tyler created the Name'N Lights cabaret series in 2009 to help promote the new works of theatre writers.   www.tylerphillipsmusic.com


ANDREW HEYMAN is a composer/lyricist with roots firmly planted in rock & roll. He got his start writing and performing with the New Jersey-based pop punk band Spitting Image before attending Princeton University, where he earned a BA in Classics. In college Andrew began writing music, lyrics, and sketches for The Princeton Triangle Club, the school’s student-run musical comedy troupe. He helped write four shows with Triangle, two of which were performed at the McCarter Theater to fully packed houses and went on to tour the United States. He also continued to write and perform both solo and with the rock band The Impulsives, recording and releasing an album entitled "Panoply" in 2007. Andrew recently received an MFA from the Tisch Graduated Musical Theatre Writing Program as a member of Cycle 18, where he wrote music and lyrics for the full length musical "Together This Time" (book & lyrics by Zac Kline) and music for the 20-minute musical "Hero Complex" (book & lyrics by Kat Harris). Andrew currently resides in Manhattan, where he works for The Rodgers & Hammerstein Organization and acts as theatrical consultant and intern for Blinding Science Entertainment Laboratories.  www.andrewheyman.com

SEBASTIAN FABAL received his master's degree from New York University's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program as Composer/Lyricist in 2009. Prior to that, he received a BM in Music Theory and a BA in Theatre from Florida State University.  He was the composer/lyricist for his thesis musical entitled The Tenth Floor as well as wrote the book, music, and lyrics for Toy Soldiers and Losing Nora – both which received productions at Florida State University.  Toy Soldiers has also been performed around the United States.  He is currently writing a children’s musical entitled Help Wanted: Pirates! that will premiere at the Millbrook Playhouse in July.  Dramatist Guild member since 2008.

KELLEN BLAIR graduated from Chapman University with a BFA in Film Production and has studied lyric writing at the Academy for New Musical Theatre in North Hollywood and as a member of the BMI Musical Theatre Writing Workshop in New York. He’s written lyrics for the films "Saturday Night at Norm's" (Winner, "Best Produced Screenplay," Chapman Filmmaker Awards 06), "The Customer Is Always Right" (produced by the Academy for New Musical Theatre), "Famous Last Words" (produced by Mental Floss magazine), and the puppet musical comedy, "Never Give Up!" For the stage, Kellen has written lyrics for the shows "Cain and Abel: the Naked Truth,” "The Ransom of Red Chief," (both produced in concert format at the Colony Theatre in Burbank), “Pirates Don’t Change Diapers” (for Theatreworks USA), and his latest project, "Murder For Two," which was recently presented at New World Stages and Bay St. Theatre and is gearing up for several 2010 productions.

JOE KINOSIAN As a piano-playing actor, Joe recently appeared in Dirty Blonde alongside Emily Skinner (Hangar Theater) and in Bitch!: The Autobiography of Lady Lawford alongside Charlotte Booker (FringeNYC). As an actor minus the piano, Joe has appeared in The Hudsucker Proxy(MTC), Beatsville (NAMT), and perhaps most memorably in a Branson, Missouri Christmas spectacular, where he played Santa Claus. As a music director and pianist minus the lines, Joe just finished a long off-B’way run in Dear Edwina (DR2); he also worked as dance accompanist on the Broadway production of The Color Purple. As a composer, Joe is a proud member of the BMI Lehman Engel Writers’ Workshop, which awarded him the 2009 Jerry Harrington Award for outstanding creative achievement, and where he continues to work on several projects with Kellen Blair; Kellen and he are also preparing for several productions of their musical Murder For Two in the next year. As a composer and sometimes lyricist in the pop vein, Joe has written several songs that get performed regularly in NYC by his favorite band, Amy Lynn & The Gunshow.

JENNIFER STAFFORD is a playwright and lyricist working towards her MFA at the Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She has studied with such writers as William Finn, Michael John LaChuisa, and Rachel Sheinkin. She also holds a BFA in Music Theatre Performance from the Shenandoah Conservatory, and has worked as a writer, performer, and director in Washington D.C. (The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Arena Stage), Chicago (Theatre Building Chicago, Columbia University, New Musicals For Kids), New York (The Laurie Beechman Theatre, New York University), and on national tours (The Missoula Children’s Theatre, The Continentals).
